The power your power supply produces is measured in watts. The more watts your power supply produces, the more peripheral devices you can connect to your PC.

To keep all the parts in your PC happy, your power supply must provide the appropriate amount of watts to your system. If the components do not get enough watts, they may not work right.

It's like being a room with not enough light when you are trying to read. You can't tell the "C"s from the "E"s. It's the same with your PC. If your system does not get enough power, it might not be able to read the data correctly.

Older PCs have 63 watt power supplies. IBM XT PCs generally have 163 watt power supplies. Newer PCs generally have a 200 watt power supply.
